Modern Couples at the Barbican: Curator-led tour

16 January 2019 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Start the new year with a curator-led tour of this highly acclaimed exhibition that explores how relationships can set a path for artistic output. The comprehensive show looks at the work of 40 artist couples active in the first half of the 20th century.  The exhibition illuminates these creative and personal relationships, from the obsessional and fleeting to the life-long.
The exhibition includes Dora Maar & Pablo Picasso; Salvador Dalí & Federico García Lorca; Camille Claudel & Auguste Rodin; Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera; Emilie Flöge & Gustav Klimt – plus many more.
Says assistant curator Coralie Malissard,  “‘A lot of these women are incredibly strong characters, questioning the ideas of gender in ways that are complex and multi-layered.”  Modern Couples
Charge: Patrons – £15; Friends – £20; Visitors – £30.
Please RSVP to: RSVP@UKFriendsofNMWA.org
