Description
Join us for a studio visit of painting conservator Rebecca Gregg. Rebecca specialises in oil paintings and works across a wide range of time periods and styles, from medieval to contemporary art. She works with public museums, private collectors, and art dealers, leading an all-female team of conservators who focus on delivering practical solutions to complex conservation challenges.
This visit will provide an overview of the methods and tools used in conservation, including surface cleaning, structural repairs and retouching. Rebecca will offer advice on how to judge the condition of a painting and give tips on how to spot campaigns of previous restoration. We will discuss the decision-making process that guides the treatment of each artwork, balancing historical accuracy with aesthetic considerations, offering valuable insights into the technical and ethical considerations involved in preserving works of art.
