Description

If you missed the talk, click here to see (Passcode: NkJ?ARy7) Polly Morgan, UK representative to Women to Watch: Organic Matters, 2015 in conversation with Anna McNay.  Polly rose to attention in 2004 with her taxidermic still lives which observe the animal in death, placing them in positions which are not imitative of life.  Most recent, Polly has received bravura reviews for her new show, How to Behave at Home at the Bomb Factory, London.  Conceived before lock-down, the title taken from a Victorian etiquette book, resonates afresh.

Polly was in conversation with freelance art writer Anna McNay.  Anna contributes regularly to Art Quarterly, Studio International, Photomonitor, Elephant Magazine, Norwegian Arts and The Flux Review, and has been widely published in a variety of other print and online art journals and newspapers.  Anna has written numerous catalogue essays, and regularly hosts in conversations at London galleries.

This is the first in our conversations with some of the artists who have represented UK Friends of NMWA at the biannual Women to Watch exhibitions at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.  Women to Watch is a collaboration between the museum and the national and international outreach committees.  Women to Watch features emerging and underrepresented artists from the states and countries in which the museum has committees. Each exhibition focuses on a specific theme or medium, and each committee, in consultation with curators in their respective regions, creates a shortlists of artists. NMWA’s curatorial team then selects artists for inclusion in the exhibition.

This event is free, but donations to support art by women in the UK greatly appreciated.
