Men in Pants: Curator-led tour of Evelyn de Morgan's Male Life Drawings
14 February 2014 at 11:15 am - 1:00 pm
Curator Claire Longworth will lead us through the newly opened exhibition of Men in Pants which displays Evelyn De Morgan’s skilful and creative male life drawings from her time at the Slade School of Art. She was one of the first 3 women to enrol in 1873. The Slade was the first art school in Britain to offer female students life-drawing classes. Alas, male models were partially draped for modesty’s benefit. Even so, this was a bold innovation in art training and attracted much criticism.
