Lotte Laserstein @ Agnew's Gallery

Lotte Laserstein (1898 – 1993), started her career in the Berlin of the 20s and 30s, and was one of the first women to complete her studies at the Academy of Art in Berlin, before leaving the country in 1937. She first exhibited at Agnews in 1987, where she was present and was a lively collaborator. This show Lotte Laserstein’s Women, is devoted to her intimate and nuanced depictions of women.   A particular focus of the exhibition is to reinstate her in the canon of 20^th Century art form, from which she and many other women artists of the inter-war period were excluded, and to acknowledge her as one of the great women artists of the 20^th Century.
