Joanna Rajkowska @ L’etrangere

Joanna Rajkowska has produced a series of photographs, Avant-garde for Insects, which offers a different context for reflections on the environment and post-human nature. They show six rooms of an insect-house, where insects are exposed to the classics of the Avant-garde in an old doll’s house.  It is a long term project to observe how the insects interact with the doll’s furniture and the mess they create.  A miniature selection of the reproductions of classic modernist artworks are placed on the walls so that the failure of the Avant-garde to change the world is put in stark relief in, The Failure of Mankind.
