Curator-led tour of Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!
24 February 2014 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
An extraordinary opportunity for a private, curator-led tour of one of London’s hottest exhibitions: Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore at Somerset House – celebrating the extraordinary life and wardrobe of the late British patron of fashion and art.
Born into British aristocracy, Blow’s influential career in fashion spanned thirty years, beginning as Anna Wintour’s assistant at US Vogue and developed through stints at Britain and America’s most influential fashion magazines. Driven by a passion for creativity, Blow is also credited with having nurtured and inspired numerous groundbreaking artists and designers.
The exhibition at Somerset House showcases over a hundred pieces from Blow’s own richly-diverse closet, a collection which considered one of the most important private collections of our time. The collection, now owned by Daphne Guinness, includes garments from many of the renowned design talents Blow discovered and launched, including Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Hussein Chalayan and Julien Macdonald amongst others.
We are delighted to have Shonagh Marshall, co-curator of the exhibition as our guide for the tour. A London-based Fashion Curator and Archivist, currently Marshall is a curator at Somerset House. Previously, she has archived Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen and the Isabella Blow Collection and curated exhibitions such as Shoes for Show: The Sculptural Art of High Heels.
If you’ve seen the exhibition already, come and take advantage of this special opportunity. If you haven’t, this time procrastinating has paid off!
