Congratulations to Larissa Nowicki, selected by the National Museum of Women in the Arts to represent the UK in the 2027 exhibition Women to Watch: A Book Arts Revolution. Nowicki was chosen from among our exceptional group of five short-listed artists including: Tamsin Green, Francisca Prieto, Batool Showghi and Rachel Smith.
On receiving notice of her selection, Nowicki said, “The opportunity to share my work within an international context is tremendously significant to me. The National Museum of Women in the Arts provides an important platform for championing women artists and bringing a greater visibility to voices and practices that have historically been marginalized or overlooked. For many years, my research and practice have examined the absence of women from prominent 20th century artist-monograph series that influenced how the western canon of art history was constructed and communicated. The Women to Watch 2027 exhibition’s focus on book arts therefore feels especially resonant and closely connected to the central questions of my practice“.
Nowicki (born 1971, New Jersey) holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Masters in Art and Design from the Royal College of Art. Her work has been shown in both the USA and the UK.
