Gallery talk: Mary Fedden

2 February 2017 at 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Join us for a tour of a Mary Fedden’s work at the Portland Gallery led by exhibition curator Sidonie Metherell.  Fedden, a much-loved Royal Academician, studied at the Slade School of Fine Art.  Fedden developed a bold, expressive style featuring flowers and still life, reminiscent of artists such as Matisse and Braque. As a teacher at the Royal College of Art from 1956 to 1964, she was the first woman tutor to teach in the Painting School and her pupils included David Hockney and Allen Jones. She exhibited in one-person shows throughout the UK every year from 1950 until her death in 2012.
The exhibition will include works on paper and oils from the late 1940s to the early 2000s.
Cost: Free for Patrons, £5 for Friends; £10 for guests.
RSVP to rsvp@UKFriendsofNMWA.org and post your cheque made payable to UK Friends of NMWA to Box 539, 28 Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3SS.
