Artist panel discussion for Women to Watch UK: Metal

21 November 2017 at 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Our major event of the year:  the panel will feature the Women to Watch UK: Metal artists in conversation with Caroline Douglas, director of the Contemporary Art Society (CAS.)
Every two to three years NMWA invites its 21 national and international outreach committees to propose a shortlist of underrepresented women artists for a themed exhibition at NMWA. The museum then selects one artist from each region for the group exhibition at NMWA. This year’s theme is women working with metal.
We worked with Caroline Douglas, Director of CAS, to select our shortlist: Claire Barclay, Sarah Barker, Rana Begum and Alison Wilding RA.
Previous UK artists who have participated in our Women to Watch programme include Polly Morgan and Rose Wylie. (Many art journalists have cited Wylie’s participation in Women to Watch as a contributing factor to her “rediscovery” at the age of 76.)
The funds raised from this event help cover the cost of our participation in the programme.
